2.5 inch thick bone in pork chops

Postby JustinCouch » Mon Jan 22, 2018 2:43 pm

I picked these up at sams club the other day and am going to cook them this afternoon . I soaked them in Italian dressing last night and they are still soaking in the fridge as we speak. Did I make a mistake by doing this? I will post pics when I get home.

Mistake? That'll be up to you to decide. I don't much care for the texture pork chops get after a long soak in Italian dressing. My mother in law, on the other hand, wouldn't have it any other way. The only way you'll know is after you eat 'em!

I love doing those on an iron skillet then flipping them before throwing them in the oven for about 16 minutes. Oh so good.

Great choice. Be weary though of excessive caramelization after the soak in that italian. If you do these direct, watch em closely!

Oh man, I see a Apple Stuffing embedded in that sucker :):)
Just my preference, I like to sear them over a hot cast iron with Grapeseed oil ( very high burn tolerance ) and finish off in the oven.

Let us know how ya make out JC

I'm a fan of a good marinate in Italian Dressing

I liked them. When I said i soaked them in Italian there was a lot less in there than I let on. Maybe 1cup of dressing. I have been doing a lot of reverse sear since I got my weber and I think its the way to cook these big guys. I have the one my wife didn't eat for lunch today.
