Smoking times for baby backs?

Postby JerseySmoke » Sat May 26, 2018 9:20 pm

How long should I smoke my baby back ribs for? I have smoked them so many different ways over the years with no set way of doing them but I would like to find a consistent method to use from here on out.

I see you're from Joisey...don't be bashful...someone's got to be from there. Where? (I avoided asking What Exit?)

Actually, 2 of my sons live in that 'other' state. In the basic Hackensack area.

I'm not at all an expert at BB's. I found that I like to do spares.

But I have done them for about 4 hrs in my bullet R2 clone. I do the spares in a slightly-less-than-3-2-1 sequence and they turn out very good. I learned, however that BB's take less time even than my adjusted times for the spares, so I have had to adjust accordingly.

I’m smoking wibbies for 5-1/2 to 6 hours at 240-250 without wrapping. I really don’t go by time - I use bend test. Tongs about half way down the rack and bend close to 90 degrees.

See
Above

Sometimes meat is fickle. You swear it takes a certain time but nope your wrong but the limp test works every time.

I've smoked baby backs in my Weber Kettle for about 3 hrs, at a temp around 250-275 F.
It's important to use the bend test, as Egghead shows, above.

Good luck!
