Thanks, all! :D

I like to cook these from time to time. It's a fast and super easy cook. The trick is in the slicing - across the grain and get it as thin as you possibly can, deli style. Thicker cuts get a little chewy.

I'm really impressed with the SB 1836. It rocks on the roast and I can't wait to try it on a brisket. :D

I just finished the rub for mine. Your looked so darn good that I had to try it. I used eye of the round beef round. I am doing one for now and one for the holidays when my daughter comes home from college. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks, Pinoy, Danno and Tx! :D

Tx, I'm considering myself hooked on the 1836. I love that pepper pop in it.

You'll LOVE it on brisket. The only, and I mean ONLY flaw with it (and this is PURELY subjective to me) is that it could use more salt for brisket application. I usually add a couple TBS of kosher to a good dusting of 1836 on brisket.

That's one thing I really like about 1836. It's not loaded heavily with salt. I think it makes it a more versatile rub. I don't like overly salted rubs and prefer to add my own salt, and I agree that brisket calls for a pretty healthy shot of salt on the rub.

I have the SB SPG rub that I'm planning to use as a base rub on a brisket, and the 1836 to dust over it. I'll see how it goes on my next brisket cook.

Combining SPG and 1836 for brisket is pure win!

Wow! How did I miss this. Excellent smoke. I’ll have just a little creole mustard on the side please - no bread, no sides. A cold one and a comfy seat watching college football - that’s what I’m talking about.
