I suspect there'll be lots of chin whipping coming up when they bite into that Juicy Bird

Re: Christmas dinner
No BBQ or grilling for us. We have a traditional Norwegian dish made from lamb ribs. The ribs are originally smoked, salted and air-dried. Then before cooking watered out for 24 hours before simmering in vegetable bouillon for an hour. Served with rutabaga, potatoes and butter sauce. A beer and an aquavit goes with.
As dessert we have whipped cream mixed with rice porridge and Blackberry juice on top.
We are blessed with celebrating with my parents. My father is 82 and my mother is 79.

Hey joe, I bet the kids wish they could have a beer. And be sure to tell the rest of the forum how nasty that aquavit is. I have worked with a lot of norweigians in the oil field, and I can tell you that stuff is terrible.

Re: Christmas dinner
Grailsback: aquavit = water of life. Potato booze with a taste of Caraway and oak. Tastes great with fatty food. Very popular here. I am careful with alcohol ( especially when kids are present) so just a little bit to clear out the fat in the throat and with alcohol reduced beer.
Luckily my kids have shown no interest in alcohol so far.

Debbie and I have some good friends from Norway. They came in for Christmas several years ago and brought a bottle of the potato booze. That stuff is pure evil I am telling you lol.

Re: Christmas dinner
Just finished Christmas Eve dinner with the in-laws. Double smoked ham, cheesy taters, veggies and my Mother in Law made a tiramisu cheesecake. Was all real good and dessert was tasty as well as beautiful!

It turns out great. Hormel Cure 81 from WalMart and I just used the glaze packet that came with it .

Re: Christmas dinner
We're a day ahead of you guys, so it's Boxing Day here. Yesterday was Christmas lunch here with the kids and grandkids.
We had roast leg of lamb, roast turkey breast with stuffing, ( 2 breasts rolled over stuffing) pickled pork, new potatoes and peas from wife's garden. Roast potatoes parsnip pumpkin carrots kumara( sweet tatter) Spring carrots. Condiments apple sauce , mint jelly, gravy. We will be having leftovers in about 6 hrs. It was beautiful. Dessert was my daughters trifle and d.i.l pavlova.
I bet you guys never had anything like that. That is our standard Christmas lunch. I hope you guys had a good day. I did!! Lols
