1st cook on my Humphrey's Pint

Postby danielnpina » Sun Feb 23, 2020 7:59 pm

I took the advice and went with a simple cook for my 1st outing with my pint: 100+ chicken legs. Salt pepper garlic , a simple rub, and some oak and maple smoke. Family ate well for the fight and I vac sealed the rest for meal prep. Happy Sunday.ImageImage

Looks like you nailed it. Does this run on electricity or what? We've been interested in the possibility of a 'fridge' smoker.

Looks great. How is the smoke flavor? I have found that my LSG cabinet has a lighter smoke flavor than I expected considering the smoke that it creates.

Plenty of good smoke to add to the flavor. Along with the oak lump charcoal, I threw some oak chips and got a great flavor. Best chicken I had ever made. Rub i used was 4 parts Salt, 2 parts granulated garlic, 1 part pepper. I'll probably half the salt next time. We are enjoying learning a lot in this forum.

I use a DigiQ temp controller. I had used it before on my green egg. You of course can use the smoker without it but I'm learning that with this temp controller I can dial in a temp and be there in about an hour and it stays rock solid at temp until I'm finished with my cook.

Nice, I bet they were good, if they tasted half as good as the they look.
