Whole leg of lamb

Postby Russ » Fri Jan 06, 2017 1:30 am

Last night of my hols, heading home tomorrow , I cooked leg of lamb with roast trimmings for 9 of us here up in mapua. Been beautiful here. Gonna miss it. It will be like a break when I'm home just cooking for 2 of us. It's not this one but it is very similar.

Very pretty leg!! I love the taste of lamb but I am one of the weird ones who don't enjoy it with mint jelly or whatever it is. That looks perfect to me!!

finding an honest leg of lamb in Houston is not possible
but our local Sam's Club (Walmart) sells boneless leg of lamb
which I absolutely LOVE
i take it out of the mesh bag and stuff minced garlic and seasoning inside
then put it back in the mesh bag

Awesome cook capt, looks like the hind leg, my wife loves the front leg or shoulder slow roasted. You ever tried mint jelly with it? Go together like salt n pepper.

Russ, my grandmother, who i lived with, was the 'Queen' of the Sunday roast / dinner
we used to tease her that she was having an affair with her butcher ;)
leg/legless lamb was one of her favorite Sunday roasts - with mint jelly
she cooked the BEST - Lamb, Tenderloin, pork tenderloin, roast chicken, turkey
with the appropriate sides you have ever tasted
we were NEVER late for her Sunday dinners !! (kind of like the TV show - BlueBloods ;)
I inherited her house in 1976. I cook in her kitchen, that I grew up in

Capt, I grew up with Sunday roast also, my grandparents used to come for lunch at my mums. I've continued to this day, all my kids n grandys come every Sunday for a roast or anything else they feel like. I love Sundays. How cool you live in the house you grew up in. I used to show my kids where I spent time with my grandparents as a kid. Earthquakes here took out that whole area so now it's just a memory. You have to try mint sauce as well, I make my own from mint in my garden. Let me know if you want recipe. Only 4 things in it. I could drink it. I've got about 10 bottles in the garage I made.
