Trying out a new thermometer (eventually)

Postby bsooner75 » Sat Jun 23, 2018 8:51 am

My ET-733 is showing signs of wear and Woot.com ran a deal on this Solis 6 probe thermometer for $40 so I thought I’d give it a shot.

Here are some pics of the unit as I received it. As soon as I get a chance to cook something with it I’ll come back and give my thoughts :)

The Man Cave must have Man Toys and that one looks like some fun in the smoke house  :salut:

That's a good deal for a 6-probe unit. Good luck with it.

Lol - it’s only a good deal if it works so here’s to hoping! Thanks PB

Cool. Seems a lot better than the single channel igrill. Hope the batteries last longer too. On I grill it looks that it uses battery even when it is off playing in the drawer.

Gave it a shot on a short cook tonight and I liked it. Can’t wait to see how it does on a long cool. Here’s some shots from the cook and of the units features. Had really good range, went all over the bottom floor of my house and it stayed connected.

The cook was some slow n Sear fajitas and chicken breast with 1836 for salads one night.

The stuff in the bottle…woof. Be careful :)

Welps, Sooner, you've shook the memory cobwebs again and reminded me how long it's been since I've done any Fah-Heaters so some Skirt is on the Grocery List. Plate looks awesome :salut: Looking forward to that long cook Tutorial

Thanks y’all.

Parts - do you have a good Fajita marinade? I used Claude’s and it really overpowered the meat. Still good just wasn’t a fan of the marinade.

I don't use much marinade but I do use a lot of Williams Fajita Seasoning which is mostly SPG.
When I do marinade I use this Allegro but am finding it hard to find in the Stores around here. :dont:

Thanks. I passed on the allegro to use the Claude’s. Live and learn I guess.
