Sunday night steak and calamari.

Postby SWMO-Tom » Tue May 14, 2013 3:37 pm

I couldn’t decide whether to post this or not because the picture is so bad! :dont:
Anyway heading home Sunday night I said to the lady of the house “ lets grill some hamburgers tonight”. When we got to the store she must have had other ideas, she suggested we get steaks instead. Well I can upgrade if necessary. While I am getting the steaks from the butcher she looks over the “reduced price” section and finds a calamari steak for 97c. I’m thinking how could this be good, but its sell by date was today and for less than a buck I’ll give it a try.

Fired up the gasser, seasoned it with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic and basil.
When the steaks were almost done, I tossed it on. Two minutes one side and then a minute on the other. It was pretty darn good! I will have to do this again. Maybe on a chile relleno like I have had out in California.

Steaks look good but I have never heard of a calamari steak. All the calamari I have ever had was fried squid tenticles.
