Daytona 500 Cookin'

Postby bsooner75 » Sun Feb 26, 2017 7:57 pm

Had some friends over for the 500. Smoked up a pork butt, some cheapo beef ribs and ring Bologna brought to me from Protivin Iowa by the inlaws.

The butt - first cook using hickory lump and maple wood. Turned out good. I really liked the color. Franklin' rub recipe and no wrap. First time not wrapping and won't be the last. I liked the results.

The Cheapo Beef Ribs. Hey, for $8 I rubbed them with Louisiana Hot Sauce, Meat Church Holy Cow and tossed them on the pit. Turned out pretty good for being an afterthought.

The Ring Bologna - I usually get Nemecek Bros ring Bologna but the inlaws brought me this stuff from Iowa. We love the bratwurst they bring us so what the heck. OMG - it was good…paired with smoked cheese.

Oh yeah, I let the butt drip on a can of BBQ beans…

Excellent - I would turn in your driveway on two wheels.

If that would have been at a pit stop, the driver wouldn't have gotten back in the race.

Is being a left turn fan mandatory to get a plate? 'Cause, I mean, I can be, if I get a plate.

That's some good looking grub right there for sure Sir :salut: The race turned out to be pretty interesting too with the stages showing to be exciting as promised. Happy to see Kurt Bush get the win. That you tube video is great :laughing7:
