Texan's Tandoori Try
Well, I've finally got things pushed around to have time to give this an honest effort. Altho Sailor has certainly set the bar pretty high, I'm gonna get my feet wet and jump in. One thing I have opted to do differently is to skewer the marinated chicken over coals. The reason for this was to provide more surfaces to soak up the overnight marinade in the frig and ?possibly? get some tandoori taste in every bite tomorrow. I'll be stirring the mix occasionally to get all the coverage that I possibly can and then tomorrow when the coals are ready, I'll skewer and roast these beauties. Also think I'll bake a Yam (wiffy) and sautee some Snow Peas to accompany the Kiwi-Kabobs. "Thanks again Russ and I'll update tomorrow"

Yes, that's exactly what I am doing and the chicken is marinading in it as I type and I'll cook it tomorrow. Russ was kind enuff to make a batch of his Tandoori Seasoning and Sailor, W. V. and MOI are the lucky ones that he sent it to. Sailor has already prepared their's and I'm up tomorrow.

So is the seasoning local to the Kiwi's, or is it universally available?

This particular batch was "Homemade by Russ" however, I'm sure that a similar seasoning is probably available locally. When I googled Tandorri Chicken there were lots of links and recipes.

Final Cook Pics: (wiffy's still in bed and I'm having to keep hers warm )
OK, here's my "honest" take on this cook.
First of all I should have done it in the Oven like Russ does and not over charcoal. Maybe then I would have had a little more control of the moisture in the chicken. Even tho it charred, the charred portion still tasted OK and by no means burnt but the meat inside was very dry (probably my fault using a breast and charcoal). I have never eaten Indian Food other than Native American Indian and my 75+ year old taste buds were a little uncooperative but it was still OK and I had no trouble consuming a plate full. I'm getting a kind of citrus taste from the meat also ?or is that my imagination? NO, it ain't the lemons.
I enjoyed stepping out of the cuisine box altho I looked like the Keystone Cops getting it all done together.
Thanks again Russ for sharing this creation and recipe of yours.

KiwiKook shared some spices with W. V., Sailor and myself and this is my "TRY" - - - Sailor did theirs a couple of days ago.
