Another Russ-speriment!

Postby Sailor Kenshin » Thu Jun 01, 2017 2:00 pm

It was Tandoori chicken day again, and a RARE day of no rain, so we decided to run a science experiment/throwdown between the Weber Mini-Q gasser and the old charcoal hibachi.

In addition to the boneless skinless thighs Tandoori, we threw in some other boneless skinless thighs marinated in barbecue sauce. Because we had them.

PB built the fires. The chickens went toe-to-toe. We tasted some of each kind, done each way.

The results were surprising. Hands-down winner, for ease 'n' flavor: the Mighty Mini-Q! Better grill marks, better finish, better everything.

Science doesn't lie. ;)

Plated with a potato salad and some shredded green salad with Secret Sailor Dressing (ie: the tail ends of this bottle 'n' that.)

And thanks once again to Russ! He da man. :D

And now it's time to put the Hibachi back in the garage for another long sleep. If I'm going to grill over charcoal I'll use the Weber Kettle.

I've still got some "Russ Dust" to use up also and while at HEB, I browsed the Lamb with deliberate scrutiny BUT decided to wait and ponder a little more - - - seems like Cluckers might win in the end. :dont:

Rust dust... I freaking love it,lol. Good cooks sailor, the sides I love the best with tandoori cutlets or chicken, is, believe it or not is.... KFC mashed tatter n gravy and their coleslaw. I don't know why but they go together so well. Now you got me thinking I might do some cutlets for the wife tomorrow night, she's been away for a week,at a conference so might be looking for my cooking.

I never used it on pork, I'm not big on pork chops, maybe it might take the dryness out of it??? Let me know when the " dust" gets low. I make a big batch up every month.

would it be sacrilegious to try Russ Dust on Mud Bugs ? (aka Crawfish) :dont: they'd have to be done in the oven tho because of their size - - -?or maybe on a grilling sheet?

Crawfish I've always steamed like Steamers.

40 lbs and a half large can of Old Bay.
Drawn butter and ur good to go.

We had 200 lbs 2 years ago, my nephew's went overboard with 20 ten pound bags from Virginia.

Good stuff

Local Custom here is purge, boil in seasonings with corn, taters, own-yawns/etc - - then put on tray, sprinkle excessively with cajun seasonings, pinch, suck, peel and pop :chef: :rambo: :texas:
