Catalina Steak

Postby Sailor Kenshin » Sun Aug 06, 2017 3:10 pm

Cool weather rolled in today, so after running around a bit in it, we opted for something quick: strip steak marinated in that orange dressing, garden bean/pepper mix, what was left of a garden tomato after I got my hands on it, and tots.

Pattng the steak dry ensured some excellent sear marks.

Strip steak...not my top pick, but with 'cowboy ribeye' going for $20/lb...as NY had this country's first cattle ranch (1747, Montauk), how did we let that slip through our fingers to reach this sad state of affairs? :dont:

It tasted good, though.

Hmm, a few things I have to say...

First, that Steak looks AWESOME, love the color and cooked perfectly.

20$ a lb is just rediculous, ur neighbors one and two states to ur left ( depends on which wall ur couch is on ) lol are hit with those prices as well, it's rediculous ...

Lastly, but no way in the least.........How on God's green earth do tater tots get the average person so excited !?!?!?!? Lol..
I can't get enough of them.
I've always wanted to try to make my own. Gonna seriously look into it now that you got my tots flowing lol.

The steak got cooked on our Weber mini gas grill, with it's newly reinforced gas hose (using OUP's suggestion of a larger hose as a protective cover). No critter bites yet. :D

Thanks, one 'n' all...but okay, strips? The flavor is good, but they lack the essential marbling. We once got a 'free' steak from Allen Bros. and I ate the whole thing, fat and all, and I do NOT eat fat! :laughing7:
