Isn’t this what normal people do?

Postby bsooner75 » Sun Feb 11, 2018 11:50 am

Temps were dropping but I had a defrosted bird and some oil to use up…so I fired up the fryer. Bird was ugly but tasted good. Been a few years since I fried one. Injected with Lowry’s garlic and herb and rubbed w/ Sucklebusters SPG.

In the past I used cottonseed oil. Couldn’t find it so I went with peanut. I think the cottonseed gave off a little better color. If I remember correctly.

No need to put the beer in a cooler so I put on the coveralls and fired er up!

Sooner,

How many minutes to the pound did you fry that bird? And at what temp?

Was shooting for 350 degrees 3 1/2 minutes per lb add 5 at the end. Wound up adding an extra 10 minutes to be sure the meat was done. Didn’t quite have enough oil and when I added a little the temps went down. Cranked the jet burner but still took some time to catch up.

Oh dang…I really watch mine, never leave it. Sat out there in coveralls and coat with beer and my radio. I’ve burned mine before but the meats always good.

Thanks for the pool comment. I’m ready for temps we can use it again.

Yes it is. Have to hunt for it when Saint Arnold releases it but that’s part of the fun.
