Birthday cooking

Postby TX1911 » Tue Apr 17, 2018 9:28 pm

The wife asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday. My answer? I wanted to cook without having to clean!

So we had my parents over for steak, potatoes and salad, topped off with a red velvet cake. Though, for our purposes, all that matters is the steak!

2.7lbs of Prime goodness in the shape of a cowboy cut ribeye.

Liberally seasoned with Sucklebusters 1836 (stuff's amazing, but y'all already know that!)

Decided a cowboy cut ribeye deserved a cowboy style cook.....over the open flame using post oak

And I'm spent

Just right for our taste. Took substantially longer than I expected, but worth it none-the-less!

Typically the only thing we do over an open flame is smores at the house or other things while we're camping (not often). It was a nice, relaxing change of pace and (I believe) helps keep me sharp! Well, thanks for looking!
