Jerk Style on a Can

Postby OldUsedParts » Sun Jun 17, 2018 9:36 am

One of those impulse moments this morning when I decided to rub the Beer Can Chicken with some Walkerswoods Mild Jamaican Jerk Jelly. I had some Spicy but then I remembered I might be using the leftovers for other things later that the wife would eat. I'll be on the wings and carcass picking like a hawg on slop.

After a few minutes in the ECB over hot Kingsford Charcoal, I chunked in a couple hands of Hickory Chips - - - Now all I'm waiting for is the I.T. to get right. :D

OK, she's finished and Lunch has been had. Everything turned out good HOWEVER, even tho the Jerk Sauce was good here, I still prefer the Hootchie Mama from Suckle Busters on my Beer Can Bird. :dont:

The first thing I thought of when I pulled her off was Counselor saying that his Bird was too dark - - - welps, Counselor, that depends on your definition of DARK :laughing7:  :D

Dark or not, it was juicy and tender which is what I like about this Q'ing process.

Sides came out perfect, according to the Wiffy. She wuves my fried Okrie and I always eat the tips and stem part 'cause dats wut me likes

Guess you can call this Supper and next week's vittles maybe with some soft white torts, cheese and salsa.

My favorite part of beer can chicken is the carcass so I must be part Buzzard. :dont:

That looks really good.

Another method you might try is using the dry jerk rub and walkerswood jerk bbq sauce. I like it both ways.

thanks, Gents, as far as the heat on the Jerk Spice goes, ehhhhhh not hot enuff for me but would be too much for SWMBO. Picking that skeleton clean this evening will tell me more. Also that dark bark is just color and not char of any kind. I'm thinking it comes from the Hickory Chips that I chunked in because my Beer Cans are always dark color. :dont:

On time, OUP! :salut:

I love jerk seasoning, but my wife can detect a single molecule of spice in an ocean.............so anything spicy is on the no cook list here.......unless I get bachelor time to cut loose. :D

thanks, neighbor to the NE - - - my Wiffy is the same with the spice detection talent so when I do a cook like this, I expect to be the only consumer.
