His & Hers Valentine's Tomahawks

I've been itching to try my hand at grilling a tomahawk steak for a while now, but needed a special occasion of sorts to spend that kind of money on a couple of steaks. Well, the wait is over. I picked up these steaks at Costco, but they weren't too terribly priced for USDA Prime at about $30 each. I seasoned each with Sucklebusters SPG & 1836 Rub. I got my GrillGrates screaming hot and seared each steak about 5 minutes per side, rotating at the 2.5 min mark. I then moved them over to indirect heat to finish to 125 internal. While cooking indirectly, I melted a couple of sticks of butter in a foil pan and added thyme, rosemary and about a head of garlic. I let that get heated up in the grill and I basted the steaks a few times while they were finishing. After a 10 minute rest on the cutting board, I cut into them for a perfectly cooked rare steak. My bride told me her's was probably the best steak she had ever tasted. That was music to my ears as now I can do this again! Enjoy!
