You may want to update the links to 2011. :)

HI... I'm new to the forum and would like to know what ISBS is. I can't find them listed that way on the internet (google) but I see under some of the other calendars that they are one of the associations for cook offs.

Thanks!

you may be thing of Lone Star BBQ society, LSBS or if it is in lower case letters lsbs which may be what you have seen. There is a IBCA or International Barbeque Cookers Association and that could be what you are thinking of. Gator has the links for each at the top, so I haven't seen an ISBS, but if I do will keep it posted.

Thanks Rustler. I went back to the CTBA website (which is where I saw that) and re-read it. I was reading the IBCA and LSBS together.

The link for the ctba seems to be broken. I tried it several times, went to an alternate link which said it wasn't found... DUNNO!

Just wanted to give you a heads up. (of course, the way my luck runs.. you'll check it and it will work fine. )

Gator... the link for CTBA says .org. Shouldn't it be .com? :?

If I click on the link you have there, it takes me to a site that wants me to buy a book.

I used ctbbqa.com and it has the list of events there.

Just wondering.

All links worked for me. Landed at the Lonestar BBW Society, International BBQ Cookers Assn and Texas Gulf BBQ Cookers Assn sites just fine.

I deleted the Central Tex BBQ Assoc - not sure what they do any longer...

do you have to be a member of any of these associations to participate or can a person just sign up?

You don't have to be a member to compete, just to accumulate cook of the year type points.

Edit: After reading your comment again you may be asking about membership to one of these associations and it is open to anyone.

nah, you were spot on with your first answer. With three small children, the likelyhood of me going to far is slim. So the further out ones are off my list. One would have to be member of all three to make it worth while
