Hot Coals, Hot Cars & Cool Junk Cook off

Postby Rlmstock2009 » Fri Sep 18, 2015 8:44 am

I hope I am posting this in the correct thread!

November 13 & 14th, 2015

Athens, Texas

East Texas Arboretum and Botanical Society

We are having our first BBQ Cook Off. It is NOT sanctioned, but will be using IBCA sanctioned rules. Our goal is to get it sanctioned down the road. I have been in over 100 cook offs, so I know integrity and rules are paramount in a cook off.

$75 entry fee ($10 Jack Pot beans, salsa)

Brisket
Spares
Chicken

Jack pot Beans
Salsa

50% payout for the meats
100% payout on beans and salsa

As of now, we are only paying cash out to the first place winner in the three meats, BUT we are working hard to get sponsor money on board. My goal is to get to the $3,000- $5,000 added money mark. So this part will be fluid the next few weeks.

There will be trophies for the top three in all meats, and trophies for 1st in beans and salsa. There will also be darn cool trophies for Grand and Reserve Grand Champions. When the sponsor money comes in, we will add cash to these two as well.

I will update this as more money and changes come in.

We are a 501 C3 Non Profit, and hope this event will become a tradition. If you are a car enthusiast, come enter that as well!

$2,000 in added money so far.

For now, we are thinking $1,000 to Grand Champion, $750 to Reserve Grand, and the rest to 1 through 3.

Updates to follow.
