Dr. pepper
Anyone ever use Dr. Pepper to marinate a brisket overnight? Will it give it a sweet taste?

Re: Dr. pepper
Have heard that as well. Have also heard that if you put a steak in a container full of Coke, in two weeks it will be dissolved.
I find that a bit disturbing.
I have used Shiner Bock in moderation to good success on small brisket however, along with a good rub.

I use Shiner Bock marinating myself as well. Maybe one day I'll try it on a brisket.

I use on Spare Ribs over night I think it makes a difference. Club Soda with orange juice etc works well also I have not used Dr. Pepper for Brisket. But would try it.

Re: Dr. pepper
Most of the coffee/dr pepper/coke recipes are for baking briskets in the oven...they turn out good if you are looking for roast.

Re: Dr. pepper
Because of the carbonation/ acidic nature I'd be careful how long I let anything set in it. Seems to me if left too long it would have the same effect as vinegar or citric acids and turn it to mush by the time you cooked it.

Re: Dr. pepper
I used it as part of my chicken marinade with good results. Have not had to try it on brisket. Dry rub and smoke is all it needs.

Re: Dr. pepper
I use it on Pork ribs and have used on Brisket I sincerely think that is has no substantial taste to add or add any special flavor.
