Butter Beef

Postby Papa Tom » Fri Jul 10, 2009 5:32 pm

Looking for a good use for some round steak? Recipe follows.

3 lb. round cubed (chuck would work too I'm sure)
1 pkg. onion soup mix (2 oz)
1 onion coarsely chopped
8 oz mushrooms (Or Not Dats really it's optional!)
1/2 cup wine (Chardonnay or similar)
1/4 lb butter
Brown the beef in a little olive oil. Deglaze the skillet with the wine.
Dump it all in a slow cooker and top with the onion soup mix. Cook for 8 hours. You may want to season with some pepper but be careful not to add additional salt since the onion soup mix and butter both contain salt.
Serve over noodles, rice or use for beef stroganoff, or just serve on buns this is good stuff.

Sounds good... I just picked up a thick 3lb sirloin tip roast that might do well with this.
