Pulled Pork with Apple Cider BBQ Sauce

Postby Hj » Sun Oct 31, 2010 12:53 pm

About 2 cups of sauce

2 c. apple cider vinegar
3 T. ketchup
2 T. packed brown sugar
4 tsp. kosher salt (makes a huge difference so use kosher
1 T. hot sauce (Chalula or Tabasco or UR favorite
1 tsp. to 2 tsp hot red pepper flakes more or less to taste
1 tsp. to 2 tsp. black pepper

All ingredients in a nonreactive mixing bowl -whisk until salt ñ brown sugar dissolve.
Taste for seasoning.
Add amount of hot pepper flakes you want.
Transfer sauce to a jar- store in refrigerator.
Will keep for several months (if not more

Note~ Use with chopped cabbage to make a vinegar slaw for pulled pork sandwiches.
Make this as heated as U like- however- make more sauce n separate some that it isn't not so hot for the children or those who can't take the heat. Go for the flavor.
A mistake is sometimes a great creation

Sounds like a favorite to me Thanks Hj

Hj I made pulled pork for 3 families over the 4th using your recipe here for wetting when pulling. To say the pork was a hit would be an under-statement kids and adults raved and made the meat disappear.
Thanks girl it was a hit.
tarde venientibus ossa....
