Rub suggestion

Postby Raider18 » Fri Jan 24, 2014 10:52 am

I made my first pork butt on NYE and loved it, I used SB competition and Hog Whaller. While good I would like a little more kick. Should I add black pepper, white pepper or cayenne?

I'm up for other suggestions as well.

Add cayenne = yes. It will hold its heat well during long cooks.

Habanero is a step up is you like it really hot.

FYI > Comp Rub is very mild. Hoochie Mama has more heat with the same flavor profile as the Comp Rub.

Worked out well. I'll be by your place Friday. Can I just walk in or should I purchase online first?
