copycat Q Review

Postby Txbbqman_1 » Mon Apr 12, 2010 8:14 am

Well , let me start by saying I have never brined a bird before this weekend.

I used copycat Q Chicken Soak per the instructions and was very pleased.I will probably add a little more next time to boost the flavor but not bad at all for first time out. The birds turned out very juicy, tender and had an awesome flavor. I am definitely now in the Brine camp.

I apologize for not having any pictures, I had every intention of doing so, but my batteries were dead and the charger was at my work and I kinda have a policy of NOT coming back to work on the weekends unless it is life or death.

I have yet to use my chicken soak but have heard some great feedback. You mentioned adding more to it, any suggestions on what you might add to it next time??

I'm not real sure how much more I'm gonna add. It had a nice flavor, I personally would like to see a little more flavor but I am going to go at it a little at a time until I figure out what I like.

I know this doesn't help much, sorry

that's ok. I think the brine is the most important. I'm not going to worry about additional flavors because I use a rub and sauce for my thighs. It sure makes things easier though, especially for competitions :)

I used the chicken soak at a comp this past weekend utilizing 1 cup to 1/2 gallon water.
Results: 50 teams (3rd place shicken) I will be using it again.
