Cabbage as a side

We use cabbage a lot down here, wife even grows them along with red cabbage. My son loves his like this , butter and fry the cabbage along with pieces of bacon.
I like mine steamed and as you serve up a glug of mint sauce, they both go so well together it's unbelievable.
Any other versions?

We love a "Texas Two Step Slaw"

Salad
4 cups shredded green cabbage
1 cup shredded red cabbage
1/4 cup chopped red onion
2 jalapeño chiles, seeded, finely chopped*
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1 can (11 oz) whole kernel corn, red and green peppers, drained
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
Fresh cilantro sprigs

Dressing
3/4 cup purchased ranch salad dressing
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 teaspoon cumin

Steps
1 In large bowl, combine all salad ingredients except cilantro sprigs; mix well.
2 In small bowl, combine all dressing ingredients; blend well. Pour over salad; toss to coat. Serve immediately or refrigerate until serving time. Garnish with cilantro.

I smoke mine. Remove the core (not all the way though). Add a chicken bouillon cube, butter, and BBQ rub to the hole and re cap it with the core. Wrap in foil leaving the top exposed and put it on the smoker. When it's had enough smoke, close the foil up until the cabbage is tender. Open and enjoy!

Works great with onion too. Experiment with whatever you want to fill the cavity.

I'm trying this as well, we do similar in what we call a honky hangi, it's where a drum is sealed off and food cooked within it. Cabbabe core taken out and just butter and steamed. But I like the sound of the cube and rub. I let you know. Again thanks.

My wife uses shredded cabbage as a side for Katsu. Maybe I should request to use it for another dish.

Cabbage is very underrated, my daughter makes a Japanese pancake using it, it's really nice. As I mentioned I like it steamed and served with dash mint sauce.

My wife makes great fried purple cabbage similar to to that described above, and I have smoked a couple as well. Slaw is always a favorite at our house as well. Its cheap and you can do so much with it.

My late Friend's Wife up in Minnesota shared this one with me last week.

Did I ever share the roasted (or grilled) cabbage recipe? You cut slabs (some call them steaks) of cabbage rounds about 1 inch thick, brush both sides with olive oil or butter, your preference, & roast them either on your barbecue or in your oven... much better than frying. I mix the minced garlic, salt, pepper & paprika into the Olive oil/melted butter mix and brush it on. Takes @ 20 minutes per side. Ummm.... good!

Mixing the "seasonings of choice" in with the mopping liquid would really give one the opportunity to make this his "own" and yet have the others to their taste preference  I also see some use for the Willie Pins to hold the "cabbage steak" intact while grilling and turning.

That's great! I love to go visit Japan soon.
Okonomiyaki is one of my favorite Asian dish next to Ramen.

I'm talking to my daughter here now. That pancake is heaven to eat, she serves with a Korean BBQ sauce and a chilly mix as well.
