Yep, ya heard me right. BOURBON. Last I checked Kentucky is still part of the South.
A couple weeks ago I was looking for a good Banana Nut Bread to compare mine to. I discovered a Bourbon version of it. Hmmm, sounded good. I haven't made it yet. That's gonna be another story.
But the idea crossed, and may have overloaded my pea brain. But, what about a good ole banana puddin' with a bit of a kick in the bottom? I'll tell ya what, everthing goes good with bourbon, including bourbon. LOL
'Nuff said, let's git to cookin', er, stirrin' and samplin'.
Nilla Wafers and Bourbon
Ready to set up
The Cool Whip
The Money Shot
Jarhead's Southern Bourbon 'Nanner Puddin'
3-1/2 Cups Cold Milk (I don't care what the package says)
2 Boxes Instant Vanilla Pudding (4 serving size)
1 Box Nilla Wafers
3-4 Ripe Bananas
1 Jigger Bourbon (or more. Ya know, for the cook)
1 Tub of Cool Whip (thawed)
Mix 2 pkg of instant pudding, whisk for 2 minutes or until stiff.
Let it set for 5 minutes.
Layer 1/2 of the wafers into a 9x13 glass baking dish.
Spritz or sprinkle the bourbon over the wafers.
Peel and slice 1 banana into 1/4 inch rounds.
Layer over the wafers. (be careful, the wafers will suck up more bourbon than Otis Campbell)
Spread 1/2 of the pudding over the first 2 layers.
Repeat.
Let set for 2 hours in the fridge.
Spread thawed Cool Whip over the top.
Refrigerate another 2-3 hours before serving.
Garnish with sliced bananas, stood edgewise. Make sure you dip them in lemon juice or they will turn brown.
Thanks for lookin'. Enjoy!

Gunny - you had me at bourbon. And then again at nanner pudding. Mighty fine lookin' dessert.
Recently stumbled on Bulleit and just found a store that sell it cheaper than Jack Black. Quickly becoming a favorite of mine.
