Jack Daniel's Fudge Cake

Postby JamesB » Sun Dec 16, 2007 10:14 pm

Lifted this off of another forum a while back. Have no idea who the actual author of it is... Made it for T-day and it was great! Will be making it again for Christmas.

Instead of the instant coffee/boiling water, I just used 1 1/2 cups of strong brewed coffee as I didn't have any instant stuff.

-----------------------------

Jack Daniel's fudge cake. Dusted with powdered sugar.

5 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup dry instant coffee
Boiling water
Cold water
1/2 cup JACK DANIELS
1 cup (2 sticks) sweet butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups granulated sugar
3 eggs (large or extra large)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Grease and flour 9-inch tube pan.
Melt chocolate; set aside to cool.
Sift flour, soda, and salt together.
Dissolve coffee in a bit of boiling water, add cold water to equal 1 1/2 cups; add the Jack Daniels and set aside.
Cream butter, vanilla extract and sugar.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add melted chocolate.
On low speed, add the flour alternating with the liquid mixture. It will be a thin batter. Pour into pan and rotate to distribute batter evenly in pan. Bake 1 hour and 10-15 minutes.
Cool in pan for 15 min before removing.

Aloha James...

Mahalo for the recipe. Jack Daniels is one of my fave bourbons because I do not wake up the next morning with my hair roots hurtin'. the other is "Wild Turkey." I'll be sippin' some on Christmas eve and bakin' this on Christmas morn...

Take care and thanks again... a hui hou

Hey honu! I've usually got a supply of JD around the place at all times! Have you ever tried the JD Silver Select? Now, that is some smooth Jack Danel's!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

James.

Aloha ahiahi (good evening) JamesB,

Mahalo for the info. Actually, I haven't bought any bourbon for a year. Been "nursing" my last 5th because of some gastro prob. Now the doc said "in moderation!" I'll go buy myself a "present" tomorrow from the State liquor store... Don't I need 2 bottles... one for sippin' and one for bakin' and q'ing?????

I'll let you know how it goes down... Take care.

a hui hou,
