Too Much Briskett?

Postby Jamey » Mon Mar 01, 2010 2:40 pm

It is possible to have too much briskett. I have eaten on it for 2 days and i still have quite a bit left. I know it has been posted before but i can't find it. What are some ways to dress up or use left over briskett. The wife is getting tired of the "same ol' thing"!

Considering the weather, Pot pie and stroganoff are great ideas. I will look for recipes on those.

What i don't use tonight I will freeze in smaller "helping" sizes, another great idea. I usually juat freeze it all and re-use it once. Or I give it away, but this is too good to part with.

Thanks guys!

Brisket makes pretty good Chile, and it will also work good in a pot of pinto or red beans. It would make good tamales to. CF :D

brisket chili. here is a recipe for ya.

3 pounds beef brisket, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons cumin
1 teaspoon ginger
1 tablespoon red pepper
1 small can tomato paste
1 1/2 cups boiling water
1 tomato, finely chopped
4 oz. can V8 juice
3/4 cup onion, diced
1 tablespoon salt
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon oregano
1 large can tomato sauce
1/2 can beer
1 jalapeno, finely chopped

Directions

Brown the brisket with a little oil. Drain and remove meat. Sauté onion and garlic in the left over oil. Add all the spices and let them pan roast.

Add the beef back to the pot and add the tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, V8 juice, tomato, jalapeno, and beer.

Cover and simmer for 3 hours. Add more beer if chili gets too dry.

Note: Use Beef Brisket - Do Not Use Ground Beef.

Almost any kind of meat can be made into tacos.

Some of the best tacos I've made were from recent smokes of pork butt. Brisket tacos sound good to me. I happen to have an excess of brisket this week and I'll be making some tacos with it.
