Your Own Sauce
Now while I am not asking what everyone's secret sauces are, I would like to concoct a sauce all my own, and wanted to know some ins and outs that is needed for almost every sauce. If anyone has some hints or advice, all is welcomed and appreciated. I was looking for recipes for Texas Sauces to modify, but figure better to ask the experts first.

Re: Your Own Sauce
Brian -
I think most important is first decide what flavor profile you are going for?
Sweet base
Vinegar based
Tomoato Based
Mustard
Fruit
Specialty
..?
Or maybe is there a sauce you really like?
Or maybe just take one off the shelf and modify it to meet your needs?

Re: Your Own Sauce
Yeah, I am in the spicier sauce, one that bites you back or encourages you to eat more to cool your mouth type of thing. something to go well with the Stuffed Jalapenos if you know what I mean.
I do a mean brisket in that I add crushed red pepper to my rub, so i would like a sauce that would keep the heat too. Essentially I would want one for a general all around sauce and figure I aint got it goin unless i got my own sauce.

Re: Your Own Sauce
CF's recipe looks good to me too -> you can always kick it up with cayenne or other pepper....
