I cut a cross in the base to help cook the sprouts. You can steam them then, but maybe finish off the way I do mine, a knob of butter, Rhind of an orange and about 2 tablespoons of orange juice. Roll the sprouts round this to give a nice burst of flavour.

Never had a complaint on my sprouts

What Russ said about the cross cut after removing any suspect leaves and a fresh cut on the stem. Butter and S&P is all we add. Will have to try the orange zest and juice.

But roasted is mo betta. There is a bevy of roast BSprout recipes when you google roasted BSprouts.

Cut in half and toss with olive oil, salt and pepper.
Roast at 375 til done (35-40 min). They will start to brown
Pull from oven and toss in bowl with mixture of honey and balsamic vinegar. Enjoy.

Get a cedar plank. Place the buttered Brussels sprouts on the plank and add S&P. Smoke for one hour. Throw the Brussels sprouts in the trash and eat the plank.

Seriously! You have to try em my way, I can promise they are delicious. Sometimes we all need to step outside our comfort zones. I've made things I never thought I would try, only to find it tastes really good.

cook bacon till crispy, remove bacon. add sliced onions with a little diced garlic and saute in bacon fat. Take sprouts and cut in half. Crumble up bacon and add with sprouts to bacon fat & onions. Tale 1 cup balsamic vinegar in sauce pan and reduce until it thicken to a syrup. You can put a little sugar with it if you like more sweetness.

After sprouts carmelize, place in to serving dish and drizzle with the reduced balsamic vinegar. Folks that don't like sprouts will like these! :)
