Need dessert Idea for Crawfish Boil

Postby OldUsedParts » Wed Apr 05, 2017 4:56 pm

My Bud down the street is having a BD Party in a couple of weeks and they are going to boil Crawfish. What I need is a good dessert/sweet snacking idea to take to the Party. I thought maybe someone might have a good "out of the norm" suggestion - - - so fire away Y'all :salut: :chef:

I'm picking crawfish is sweet like our seafood, so thinking something tart to go with it, I'm not really into desserts but the rest of my mob are. We have 2 Meyer lemon juice trees so I recently made a lemon cheesecake, I was more than happy with it. Even had 2 pieces. Family raved about it. Quick easy and cheap, fits all my requirements, lol.
Or lime as an option. I recently had a piece of passion fruit cheesecake which I really liked as well.

Lot of paprika and spice in that crab boil mix, so I would think something sweet and maybe even tart that cuts against the hot and spicy.

I'm thinking lemon meringue pie, my mom used to make it really good with lots of lemons, it would pucker you up so much you could spit a BB through a sheet metal "It" house

Thanks Gents - - - "Citrus Pie" is on the list. Think the Wiffy is gonna do her Pineapple fruit "dip" creation with a whole fresh pineapple but more ideas are still welcome.

That's on my list this coming summer, my lime tree is nearly 3 years old and has small fruit starting to appear ATM. First limes ever for me so that pie is going to be done. How do you guys fertilise your citrus plants? I'm the old fashioned way, lol.

Just went to a bug boil.

Lemon bars, brownies, and Ameretto vanilla ice cream were served - just right.

Ameretto vanilla ice cream is simply let the ice cream soften, mix in Ameretto, then refreeze. About 1 cup/gallon.

Egghead's eggcellent discourse on ice dream and alcohol reminded me of sumthin:

Butter pecan ice cream w good Texas bourbon drizzled over, I do this all the time, sometimes w dark chocolate chunks sprinkled on too. Quality dark choco goes great wid bourbon (hmmmm - might have to try some in my Ovaltine).

Thanks Gents  :salut: very good ideas and suggestions - - - altho Ice Cream Rocks, it's almost summer time in Texas and it's gonna be at someone elses house so refrigeration might be a problem - - - - however, the Citrus connection seems to reign supreme. Thanks for the "receipt" (father in laws word butchering)W V :laughing7: I've got to do those at the Casa and soon. Is a ramekin a muffin pan :?: I sincerely appreciate it Y'all
