My new favorite spice

Postby ecto1 » Thu Aug 11, 2011 6:25 pm

I had picked up some Texas Gold Dust last time I was refilling on Hog Waller down at the Fire Box in Humble Texas and finally got to try it out today. Man is this stuff good and I am not just sucking up to Gator this stuff really is good. I took some left over pulled pork and in a frying pan with a little water reheated with this magical spice and I was taken back to my childhood at my wela's house when she was making tamales. I Swear this taste just like the spice mixture she would mix in her Mocajete for tamales. Don't tell my wife but I think I am in love. I thought you could not top Hog Waller but man man man I am lost for words. Authentic Tex-Mex not the fake taco seasoning you find in most stores.

Thanks Ecto, TGD was my first seasoning, it draws a love/hate reaction for sure.

Don't try it on popcorn! You will never eat it any other way again! The Gold Dust is a catch all seasoning in my house. It is next to the salt and pepper shakers.

I like it on wings when I smoke or grill them. The wife brought it home from The Fire Box when she went in to grab some Salsa Fixin's.

It's good on garlic toast.
