Chili Seasoning

Postby DATsBBQ » Tue Aug 23, 2011 8:20 pm

Got a jug (1.2LB) from Gator yesterday. You can find it in his bulk spices page.

Walking back home from the Post Office I decided I couldn't wait to open it. So I sat down on the patio of the Jamestown Merchantile (Cafe and only retail business in town). Opened up the package, then proceeded to open the jar. Know what happens to things that are packaged with an air tight seal at or near sea level then get shipped to 7,000 feet? Well pressure builds up in the container. I knew that but wasn't thinking about it. Well, turned the lid about a 1/2 turn and poof - chili powder on my shirt, shorts and face along with the table I was sitting at. Probably lost a tablespoon or so.

Back to the seasoning. Made burritos last night and used it in my seasoning. Have to report this stuff beats the pants off the chili powder I've been using and will be a mainstay in my house. Going to use it in a rub for Beef Ribs I'm cooking tomorrow. I heartily recommend it. And its cheaper in the Bulk jars, the same size as you see other spices sold at Costco.
