Pintos beans, but some people call them red beans in this part of Texas... I married into a old fashion German family, but us Scot-Irish will eat most anything, but not quite like my Cajun cousins :D He can cook concrete in a pot and make it taste good and be tender. But that is a whole different thing.

That's why I usually have beans and rice on the side, unless I know some folks what want beans. I do make some killer beans, but that's is a different topic.

Thanks all.

PLEASE PUT THE BEANS DOWN AND STEP BACK FROM THE CHILI! ( this being said through a megaphone). :D

As much work as you put into chili and into good beans, why mix them together. But, thats my two cents worth. :D

Beans have to be included, but only 1/3 of what most commercial recipies call for.

Never ever ever will I put beans in chilli. To me it's a sin. Chilli is Chilli and beans are beans and never shall the two meet. I used to make my Momma mad when I wouldn't eat her home made chilli cause it had beans in it. She finally started make two pots, one with those god auful beans and one, made with love and without beans. If you want beans, get a couple of smoked ham hocks, add to a pot of pintos, cut up some potatos, get the skillets (2) and dutch oven hot. Put the washed beans in the DO and cook all day. When the beans are done heat the 1st skillet up for the tators (with diced onions) and heat the other for the corn bread (no sugar added please, its cornbread not cake). Thats how you eat beans.........

I love beans but I don't want them in my chili. If you like beans in it put them in but that is what I call sopa de Carne frioles enchilada! not chili.
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

Chili is chili and beans are beans, but there is no such thing as chili beans. Beans are a side dish. I love them both but not together. CF :D
