Made some chili again. This time seriously hot chili!
I ordered some chili seeds for growing my on chilies. As a bonus I got a dried Naga Morich, the hottest chili in the world. There was also as a bonus some hickory smoked Naga Morich powder.
What else to do with it than a nice chili.
Put in a large pot simmering for few hours:
- 2 pounds of ground beef
- 1 large onion
- 6 cloves of garlic
- 4 cans of crushed tomatoes
Seasoned it with 1 whole dried Naga Morch chili, half a bag of Naga Morich powder, plenty of cumin, paprika powder, a couple of bay leaves, salt, black pepper and brown sugar. After a good 3 hours I added 2 cans of beans and few rings of pineapple for giving a bit more freshness and sweetness.
Delicious and seriously hot stuff!! Pleasure to eat it but after I finished up a bowl of it, only then the pain hit my mouth! Lovely!!
Cheers,
Sterno

Re: Naga con Carne
My neighbor told me I should try them. Here they go by the handle of ghost chili. According to Wikipedia they have a Scoville rating of 855,000 units. A factoid listed is that "in northeastern India, the peppers are smeared on fences or used in smoke bombs as a safety precaution to keep wild elephants at a distance". I can see me getting a few in the near future. Maybe they'll keep the bears away too

Re: Naga con Carne
Looks good Sterno, but I could not eat it. Too Hot for me. I grow the Naga Bahut but don't eat them. Habanero is my limit and not much of those. CF
OK, get over it, you lost. God bless America

I took the pain without any ice cream or yogurt. Lasted a good 15-20 minutes with serious sweating. I guess boiling it for few hours knocked the edge of, as it was still eatable stuff.
However, I made pizzas the other night. Decided to sprinkle some of that Naga powder on the pizza. Maybe one heap teaspoon on a pizza the size of a oven tray. Oh man! THAT was painful. I could not eat more than a small slice of that pizza. INSANELY HOT stuff!! Had a few yogurts after but they did not help at all. I was in SERIOUS pain!
Cheers,
Sterno
PS. Moderators, is this Chili Heads meant for just chili con carne dish or could we start up topics here about discussing different chilies, growing chilies etc?

Count me out on these peppers. Chili Petines are my limit and not many of them.
