Best store-bought sausage I have found

Postby tex_toby » Wed Jun 19, 2013 1:52 pm

While staying in New Braunfels this weekend, I picked up a package of this sausage at Walmart and was VERY pleased with it. The casings had a real nice snap to them. I'm guessing it is maybe just found in that region of the state because I have never seen it in any other Walmart before. It cost about a dollar per link. It looks like you can order it online, so once I cook all of it I may have to order more. If you are in the area, GET SUM! :thap:

Speaking of Wally-World, I got a all fresh, all natural (NO up to 14% artificial solution) Pork Loin there a couple of days ago. Farmland Brand. A little pricy at $3.68 pound. Its on Einstein as I type. I'll pay extra for Fresh. Can't stand the "always tender/juicy" dope you find everywhere. I'll look for the sausage next time I'm there.

They show up at Costco here in Arizona from time to time. Because you can't depend on Costco having them, started making my own.

That my friend is Elgin sausage, Elgin is a small town just east of Austin and north of Bastrop Tx. It's known for its sausage.

Elgin Southside Market also does a great job at deer processing. I get the jap/cheese, 60/40, and it reminds me of the store bought....only better because it's venison.
