Re: Homegrown ham!
Thanks! It's cool enough that I can hang it to age in the shed. That'll be around the end of this month. I'll wrap it with some burlap and hang it with a fan going on it for another month.
This is gonna be a good one!

Re: Homegrown ham!
So the burlap = Cheesecloth in this application. I don't even know where to get burlap anymore. . For many years, but not in the last 15, a lot of the Livestock feed came in what we called " Toesacks". They were used in many different applications after the feed was gone. Another part of " the good Ol' Days" that is gone. It tickles me to see you doing something that soon will be too gone.

My intentions are burlap. I live in a small town that time forgot, so I may get lucky. Cheesecloth will suffice if required. Being forgotten is the reason I love doing these projects. I don't want that to happen. To keep as close to roots here as I can is what I shoot for!

Oh nice! We have a little mom and pop hardware store in town: side note; their family has operated for 115 years.
That I believe has some burlap sacks available.

I grew up in a town like that, I had to move the wife & family there for a few years after my dad died.
We left there over 25 years ago, and I am still paying for that one...

I hear ya. I grew up in big cities; San Antonio, Austin, Houston, etc. My mother made some horrible life decisions and I took the brunt. After growing up though, and military service through the 2nd gulf war, I want to live out the rest of my days in as quiet an environment possible. Lol!
