Plum Preserves

Postby Sailor Kenshin » Thu Sep 16, 2021 10:02 am

Every year, I make a batch of black plum preserves the way Mom made (leaving out the whole cloves that you would unexpectedly bite into and lacerate the roof of your mouth).

Last year, I missed the two-minute window they were available. This year I grabbed some. No pectin, just plums, sugar, lemon juice and shredded peel. Stirred with a cinnamon stick.

Only three jars. The jars with lids popped. :D

Looks great, Neighbor, I always rendered the Juice and made Jelly instead of Preserves with things like Plums, Muscadines and Dew Berries but I'd gladly whoop out a mess of Catheads to put that on.  :chef: :salut: :texas:

I'd be all over that. Last year, my plum tree had a bumper crop and I made up a bunch of jars and gave most away. This year it barely made any, but my blackberries went crazy so I made up a bunch with them. Good, yes - but not as good as my plum. :D

I can't always please everybody. I'm not bacon.
