Spam Stir Fry
Surprisingly, when I posted this on a different forum as part of our menus this week, I was asked questions about it. This is a dish I threw together one night about 4 years ago after a long day at work. I just used what was in the pantry and fridge. I threw carrots, celery, onions, green peppers, garlic, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, chunk pineapple, and Spam into the wok with a bit of vegetable oil. Then I made a sauce of French dressing, soy sauce, red wine vinegar, dijon mustard, brown sugar, ginger, and Oriental 5 Spice and poured it over the rest of it. Cooked until it thickened and served it over rice. My family went nuts over it and beg me to cook it for them. lol Here is a pic of tonight's dinner:

I LOVE SPAM!
It's kind of ironic but I picked up a can the other day at the food buying place.
They had a 2 pack special. This year being SPAM's 70th birthday
Can you believe it?? 70 years and still going strong!
Allie I'm always looking for recipes to use with this fine product and the one you posted looks like a winner that I will try!
My favorite still remains straight out of the can on white bread with some mustard(Grandpa's fav. )
I still can't get used to the fact they did away with the "turn Key" style opener.
Thanks for the memories

Les and the kids love it, too. It's just too salty for me, hence all the sweet stuff in the dish to tone it down a bit. We made kebobs using it not too long ago. Just marinated peppers, onions, spam, and pineapple in teriyaki sauce for about half an hour and then grilled it. That wasn't too bad either.
Do you have the special Spam keeper? It's a little plastic container shaped like the can so you can put the leftover hunk in it? I got one free with a can of Spam not too long ago. When the budge gets low, Spam is definitely a way to make a cheap meal to feed the family.

Momma said that she was gonna make loaded baked potatoes for dinner tonite with the left over brisket.
Well Momma exercised her female rights my loaded baked potato became fried potatoes and onions with smoked sausage. Momma said she would exercise that right each and every time Papa uses all the sour cream to make potatoes for his friends at the cookoff.....oh bother....

Aloha Spam lovers!
Hawaii has the highest "consumption per capita" of Spam in the US! Spam, eggs (any style)and rice is a fave breakfast. Had that last Saturday at home. It is also one of the breakfast items at McDonalds in HI.
So the next time you go to my home state... go try 'em.

I'm with Allie. Spam is a bit too salty for me! But my kids and hubby love it! Go figure! I grew up on so much of it, I think I burned out on it. My family's favorite way to eat it is mac and cheese with Spam.
