Testing...1..2..3..4

Postby woodenvisions » Thu Aug 03, 2017 8:28 pm

Tonight was test 4 SB rubs that I just picked up. I'm completely new to these rubs, So I used SPG, Texas Pecan,Clucker Dust & Hoochie Mama. Ran 4 leg/thighs thru the Big Easy with some Corn on the Cobb.

Sampled all 4 and all we're GREAT.

Wifeys fav along with mine is hands down Texas Pecan.

Looking forward to experimenting more.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

They all look great WV :salut:

I've tried all of Gators rubs and like them all :salut:

This is how I like to use them
SPG is my go too heavy rub for anything beef. On beef it can't be beat.

Texas Pecan by its self to me seems to be a little bit light on salt and heat but good on sweet. I use it on chicken along with a heavy dose of a Clucker dust. It makes for a great combo.
Hootchie Mommas I use as a supplement to Gators other rubs if I'm looking for a little more heat and salt.

Excellent array, WV! Corn, too?

My faves are the Clucker Dust and Hoochie Mamma. TX Pecan was also good, but so delicate it seemed to 'disappear' even on chicken.

Thanks and thank you for that info Bondobill, I'm gonna give some a shot this Sunday. As for the Pecan, the smell is what drew me right in, smells great.

Lol Emm,

Actually we only ate 2 of them. Had the other two tonight with the original BBQ sauce and the hot n spicy one. Excellent products, Deb loved the SPG and the Pecan.
As for a favorite, we still need to try the others before we cast the verdict.

One mistake I will never make again is to ( sniff a good wiff ) of that SPG...

Wow, it took me a bit to find my breath lol...

Thanks Sailor, yup...
The corn too lol. It was a first, and to to be honest I didn't know what would happen if we cooked it like that in the Big Easy.
To our surprise, it came out great !!

We're gonna give them all shot in time. Between the rubs and sauces, we have 13 bottles and the last thing I want to do is open all of them so in time we'll get to them all.

Great looking quarters! I still need to get one of these oilless fryers!
Great call on the Texas Pecan. I like that one as well. Hootchie is also another must have for me. I haven't tried some of the newer ones yet; Gunpowder or the SPG. It is all definitely on my to-do list. Lol!

Hey Tex, Amazon Prime has them for 80$..
That is a steal of the century, I'd jump on it. I GUARANTEE you won't regret it. For a few $ more, the accessory kit is a must.

Thx for the compliments, it was for sure really good. Who would have ever thought one could cook corn on the cobb this way ?!?!

Wife likes her corn, which she grows, cut into half, salt and butter rub on it, wrapped in foil and cooked on the BBQ over hot heat. It really is beautiful.
