For the cheese heads!

Postby Txdragon » Sat Oct 07, 2017 4:04 pm

Homemade mozzarella. My first attempt at any kind of cheese. Very simple to make, but it does require a little finesse.
Here's the involved items. Milk, citric acid, and some animal rennet.
Used a gallon of milk and as you see on the last pic, it didn't yield a whole lot, maybe 3/4 lb or so.

After some straining and stretching, we've got mozzarella!

I look forward to trying some cheddar before too long. That's gonna be fun!!

Did you just giggle for the recipe? I didn't know it was so easy? My daughter makes yoghurt all the time, she says that's easy as well. I'm gunna have to try this???? Great pics and looks like a good result.

Oup: I can see why miss Muffet was so excited about her treat. Out of pure morbid curiosity, I helped myself to a spoonful and was quite impressed. A bit sweet with a grainy creaminess..

Russ: Yes. I googled a recipe. I think the one I used was from allrecipes.com.
