Porka-cola

Postby Sailor Kenshin » Sun Feb 25, 2018 9:34 am

When you see country ribs a buck-fitty/pound, you grab them...and experiment. Marinated in cola overnight, just because. Then, done WV-style with a bit of a Q-shake, brown sugar, and lemon slices...indoors, in a low oven. I can't call this a complete success because the cola didn't seem to make much difference, but there was a LOT of tasty goo in the pan, and we collected that and the fat (maybe do some coarse-chopped onyawns and taters with it).

With Spicy Kale and, ...I think, spaghetti?...

Iffin dat tastes even close to the way it looks then "IT'S THE REAL THING" and Lunch was "THE PAUSE THAT REFRESHES" :salut: Don't know what happened but all of a sudden "I'D LIKE TO TEACH THE WORLD TO SING".

P.S. many years ago I did a Brisket in the Coca Cola soak and I couldn't tell any difference either :dont:

You aren't going to get much taste from the cola, but it will help tenderize. Looks good to me   :chef: :chef:

Looks great SK :chef:

I'm going have to try the cola thing the next time I do pork steak.
Bought half a hog a while back and had the shoulders cut into 1 1/2 " thick steaks. I tried grilling a couple. Tho tasty, they where on the tough side.

I bought some pork steaks yesterday. Wish they were thicker than they are but oh well. I’m going to try Snow’s method on them. Although I’ll modify for the thinner cut.

These were pretty tasty. And we did use store-brand cola, but I doubt that makes a difference.

Thanks for that link sooner. :D
Going have to try that on my Weber or I may have to fire up my cinder block smoker and give it a try.

A internet buddy of mine from NC does whole pork shoulders that way. He sent me a couple of bottles of the mopping sauce he uses. He says it a completely different taste profile then smoking them indirect.
