Been really craving Jimmy Buffs Italian Hot Dogs for the last few weeks, but being as tho it's a good 1 hr, 45 minutes drive each way I've held off.
So tonight I decided to duplicate them as much as I could with what I had. Main thing is to use Pizza Style Bread by way of a Pita. So, made our very first Pita Pizza Bread and it couldn't have gone any better. To keep with frying everything in oil, I fried the Onions, Peppers, and Potatoes in the Cast, and in the end I made some Rippers, Venison and Cheese style Dogs that I got from my bro :)
Loaded em up in the proper order and stuffed our faces.
The wifey ate 3/4 of her single and I got down 3/4 of my double.
Good stuff, the outer texture of the Rippers were spot on :):) The inside juicy as can be.
Hope y'all enjoy the pics.

As always great plates and even better pics, the wife was just saying we need to do American hot dogs again.

There's a Dutch family that do salamis and American frankfurters as well about 15 min drive from me. I'm sure I'll be near there in next week or so.

Russ & Sailor,
Tyvm. U should definitely give it a try deep frying the peppers, onions & taters with the dogs, good stuff :)
Here's the scoop below ↓↓↓
Tip --- make sure you get the oven to 500/525 and use on a stone on ( bottom ) rack...

Thanks for the recipe, WV. Gonna try it soon; we don't like any of the commercial pita breads we've tried.
Moink!
