Summer Soup

Postby OldUsedParts » Wed Aug 01, 2018 1:09 pm

I never make soup in the Summertime, however, the Wiffy wanted Soup so I made Soup today. Except for a couple of items, I already had most of the needed ingredients. PIcked up some green beans and beef broth on my Pharmacy Trip and I was set. Used a couple of nice Prime NY-Strips from the Truck purchase. Thawed them last night, hammered violently with my tenderizing mallet this morning, cut into bite size cubes and sauteed with some own-yawns and sweet peppers. Par-boiled the taters and dumped it all together for a long slow simmer. Added some garlic bread stick and the Wiffy is Happy. :wav:

Nice. Ever had gazpacho? It’s a summer cold soup. Depending whether it’s the Italian or Spanish version. Same basic recipe the Spanish version soaks the bread in the broth and is broken up. Super simple to make and if you like veggies, it is a hit for most.

thanks, Sailor Mam, that was my thoughts also Oh Well it was good and I enjoyed it after I finally got into a bowl.

C.P. - don't know about cold Soup for MOI - - - I'm not really a Soup fan, I'd rather have Pork Stew, Gumbo, Zuppa Tuscana or Cabbage Patch Stew but I was only the Hired Hand today. :dont:

thanks, to me a stew has a thicker broth more like a thin gravy :dont:

I love creamy tomato soup, with soldiers. ( toast cut into thin strips) and dipped into soup.

Do you call this soldiers?

Russ are you talking about the soup I mentioned if that’s the case no we don’t. We do grilled cheese with tomato soup which is excellent.

You needed Cornbread but we’ll let it slide this time; you’re on probation however

Nah just tinned soup which I add some cream to. Buttered toast bread cut into strips, it's real good. Never tried with cheese, maybe next time. They all go together eh?
