"Other" Dinners

Postby nascarchuck » Tue Feb 12, 2008 1:36 pm

What all do y'all fix for dinners besides what we see here?

I always try to make out a list of dinners for two weeks and base my grocery list off of the list of dinners. Looking at it, we eat the same things over and over and over... I'm ready for a change.

Lately we have been doing tacos, burgers, chili dogs, fried chicken, spaghetti, stew meat & rice, cubed steak w/ tomato a sauce, etc...

Suggestions on semi quick, semi cheap and semi easy meals???

We grill alot of Salmon & other seafood and fish. Also grill some chicken. We always grill a little extra shrimp or chicken and use the left overs in pasta or rice dishes. Brats or Italian sausage is good. :D

All of em do!!! :goof:

Chicken spaghetti sure sounds good. Maybe that is something that I can make and freeze along with a few other meals mentioned. I think that I need to take advantage of the freezer more than I do.

During my workweek, I just don't have much time to cook. I wake up about 4:30-5, have to fix something and finsh eating by 6:15 so I can shower and be at work.

Yep, it freezes fine. I freeze a lot of enchiladas and chili too...

Pinto Beans are a pretty big hit around here too. Cornbread. Yum.

Aloha Chuck,

Those are all good selections that the others have posted. Shoot, I may use them too. Lemme know if you like to try some real easy kind "local style" dishes. Some you grill, some you braise, some you bake or roast and some you steam. Local style includes influence from many ethnic groups that live in Hawaii so if you interested...

Well, it really depends on the family's schedules... it could be any thing from beanie weenies to a not too fancy italian spread to a mexican fiesta to a crab/crawfish boil...

It might be easier to list the things we don't like... brussell sprouts and broccoli... There might be something else we don't like, but I can't think of it right now... :D

I like hamburger helper, well, a couple of the flavors anyways, but I don't like tuna helper. I would rather make me some tuna salad with eggs and onions and eat it on crackers...

That looks like the trip to Georgia a few years ago. A little bitty town and the only restaurant that was open past about 9PM was some place that we wouldn't even consider stopping at. We ended finding a Super Walmart and bought chips, ravioli, etc for dinner. Luckily the Best Western had a small fridge and microwave in the room.

Chuck et al,

If you like grilled salmon, here is the easiest. Make a rub of equal parts of sea salt and brown sugar. Add a small amount of ground ginger. Sprinkle on salmon steaks or fillets and let it sit for at least 1/2 hour.

For 1/4 cup salt and 1/4 cup brown sugar, start off with about 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger. You can always adjust the amounts to suit your personal preference...

Grill to your liking but never to well done!

Take care a hui hou kakou,

Sunday - Pork wontons, stewed cabbage and for dessert cream cheese and chocolate chip wontons
Monday - pork chops, mac and cheese, misc. veggies out of the fridge
Tuesday - Spaghetti, salad, garlic toast
Wednesday - chuck roast, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, lima beans
Thursday - Hungarian ghoulash, egg noodles, green beans
Friday - pork roast, scalloped potatoes, veggies

You ever try the hamburger helper without any meat in it? Saw that in a movie one time. Looked purty good. Let us know if you get around to trying it. Thanks.
