Scratch strawberry shortcake!!
I felt like something different, so, I'm doing burgers for dinner.. Wait, what? It's dessert that's different.. I'm making strawberry shortcake from the bottom up. Batter was super easy; butter, sugar, vanilla, flour, eggs and additional egg yolks. It was also SUPER thick...
Batter all mixed up..
Spread into the pan and into a 350 degree oven..
Strawberries now masserating for the compote..
More pictures as it all progresses. Stay tuned!!

Re: Scratch strawberry shortcake!!
Thanks all! The pan I used wasn't what should have been, and I had a major brainfart as far as the temp difference for glass. While the outer portion wasnt burned, it came out dark and crispy for about 1/8". I trimmed those pieces away and they made for some decent little nibbles. The middle was perfect! Good density and very moist. The compote was a great contrast as I add a touch of red wine vinegar to add some tartness that you just don't find in store bought strawberries. The sweet from the cake was a near perfect balance! I'd give myself a solid "C" on this project for sure. Lol!
