Beautiful sliders! Sorry about all the stress, what doesn't kill us makes us crazy, yeah? Or was it stronger? Lol! As for the bear.. That's why I couldn't live in an area like that. If an animal just casually walks into my house that can easily eat everything IN my house, including other animal and human occupants, it's getting killed. Period.

Hey thx everyone for the kind comments, well wishes and concerns.
It's all good, stress comes and goes just like Yogi.
Unfortunately the trap gets hauled away sometime today EMPTY...

As I said, usually they aren't an issue, but it takes only 1 neighborhood SLOB to bring these Honey eaters in a little too close. In thier defense, they have been walking thru this piece of property long before we had this house built 12 years ago so we really can't blame them as they are just looking to eat.
I'm pretty sure the trap will be back here as soon as it's freed up again.
Till then, I have the Air Horn by the front door.

I am also late to this. Sorry for the stress. A bear an the deck or close is no joke. What kind of bear is it?

The cooking looks great as always.
Nice pictures.

Hey thanks Joe, I appreciate the kind words.
As for the bear, it was the BEST case scenario to be honest.
It looked to be one of Last Years offspring, so that's actually good because if it was a Cub from this year, I would be looking Closely for Momma because I guarantee she wouldn't be far away !!
If it was Momma herself, that would suck as well.
This one was in between maybe 150-200 lbs if I had to guess.

These are Black Bear that we have in Pa.

Trust me, if it was a Brown Bear I GUARANTEE you that someone up here would have definitely Taken Him Out.

Don't get me wrong, Black Bears are still dangerous but again, it was the best scenario.

The Conservation Officer just hooked up and left with an Empty Trap so maybe he will be getting another call from us soon ??

I understand it's not cool to have a bear so close. For me it's a bit exotic though. We only have a few brown bears here. But far away from our place. The sheep farmers shoot them as soon as they spot them. Close to extinction. Last count in 2017 was only 125 individual's in the entire country. Said imo.

We have wolves and lynx not far away though, haven't seen them yet but I hope I do.

Hope it doesn't bother you more.
