Blue plate specials

Postby Sailor Kenshin » Thu Nov 12, 2020 9:39 am

Never mind that the plate is white. This is what we are studying now: diner-ology.

Home fries from leftover baked potato the size of your head. Aldi (slogan: 'We're cheaper than anyone else!') sausage patties. An egg. Toast.

It was very good, even the Aldi sausage (their alternate slogan: "The name goes on well before any quality may or may not go in").

Thanks.

Further Blue Plate Specials in the form of Salisbury Steak, and a package of 'seasoned' rice from Aldi that was so miserable that if we still had our cats, they would have buried it.

This is when you discover that a toasted, buttered bagel is by comparison food of the gods.

Followed this morning by a leftover Salisbury Steak on a toasted English muffin with ham and Munster cheese.

And here we have meat loaf stew, with a sliced Snapdragon apple on the side.

The necessity of making meat loaf stew is my fault; the meat loaf came out hard and dry because I did not use the slow cooker and had run out of bread crumbs (little realizing at that time you can use instant tater flakes instead). :banghead:

Making the loaf into a stew cured it somewhat.

You can also use, and I prefer, quick cook rolled oats. ;)

Leftover Beer Can Bird and home fries from yellow taters that didn't bake quite as nicely as Russets but that's why home fries were invented.

Sadly, we put away most pf the rigs for the winter.
