First Hot Air Fryer ?ATTEMPT?

Postby OldUsedParts » Wed Dec 30, 2020 3:03 pm

Marinated some wings with Suckle Busters Jerk Seasoning, Orange/Pineapple Juice and Olive Oil over night and then used my brand new Hot Air Fryer to cook them with.

"TOTAL FAILURE" - - -COULD IT HAVE BEEN THE ORANGE/PINEAPPLE JUICE THAT BURNED :?:

I went exactly by the Instructions and they were already ruined by the first 12 minutes but I stayed with it just to see what would happen.

Thanks for the heads up. Kids bought us an airfryer for Christmas too. Haven't tried it yet. First attempt will be fries.

I very stupidly had the "set and forget" mode in my ?Brain? and should have periodically looked at them to see what was going on because what was "fixing" to cook at 400 for 20 more minutes had already burned at 12 minutes. :banghead:

I also couldn't taste the Jerk Seasoning at all thru all the charred skin. :banghead:

O noz!

When we do wings, we only use some kind of dust. Sugar burns...you can always add it later in a glaze once the wings are done.

(Even drums, which come out really well).

my best luck has been to two-stage cook chicken. 350-70F for a bit then crisp at full blast.
Make sure everything is properly oiled. +1 on sugars causing the burnage.
YMMV and good luck

The scallop potatoes look good!
When I do hot wings I cook them without sauce on them and once there done I will sauce them in a bowl and then throw them back in for a minute or two.

OUP,

My Insta Pot air fries, and I found that I really need to keep an eye on it.

I wasn’t super impressed with the air fryer. Large foot print on the counter and small cooking surface made it impractical for me as I will meal prep for the week.

Definitely give it a shot with something that doesn’t have all the sugar in it.

There are several good YouTube channels dedicated to air fryer recipes.

Mrs Tex bought one a year or so ago and tried it a couple of times with poor results and it went into the cabinet. I got bored a few weeks ago and pulled it out of the cabinet, wiped off the dust and gave it a shot. I've only tried a couple of things like some fries, frozen chicken nuggets, taquitos type stuff and they have all come out surprisingly well. I haven't tried cooking any raw meat though.

Throw some spg on some wings and tuck in that fryer and give em a go. I’ve had good luck doing that.

Do you put any oil on them? Also what are your time and temps?
