Mom always taught us to be sure and eat Cabbage and Blackeyed Peas on New Years Day so we would have good Health and Prosperity during the upcoming Year and I/We have never failed to do just that !

We had spinach in our 15 bean soup (including black eyed peas) instead of cabbage, with ham, and cornbread.
