crappie dinner

Postby JaCK2U2 » Sat May 24, 2008 7:44 am

A friend of mine has a tank that is getting overcrowded, so she said I could fish and take however many fish I caught. We got into a bunch of crappie, and made our dinner plans right there! Not huge, but good eating size. Some fried taters and hushpuppies, and we were in great shape! It was some good eating....

Crappie is good eating.
For the rest of the world that is not from Texas a tank probably is not what you have pictured in your mind, picture a pond.

Oh boy... crappie is my fave freshwater fish, dusted with cornstarch and panfried or fried crisp. A little soy sauce, chilipepper water and fresh lemon juice. Hmmmmmm.

You are right PT re: "tank"... If I hadn't seen a fishing show on TV where they fished in a "tank", I would have envisioned a large steel structure like for holding thousands of gallons of oil.

a hui hou,

Nice lookin fish there, Jack! I used to go tank fishin all the time when I was a kid. My uncle kept it stocked with catfish. Always had to be on the lookout for water moccasins, though.

You can call me city boy on this one, cuz I had the picture your talking about.

I figured about 500 gals or so, and you "fished" it with a net.

I mean, how hard could it be to catch fish without heads?
